ABOUT US
The National Federation of Farmers of Sierra Leone (NaFFSL) is the unified voice of farmers across Sierra Leone. We are a non-governmental, non-profit umbrella organization that brings farmer cooperatives and associations together under one platform to collaborate, share knowledge, and speak with one voice on the issues that affect their livelihoods.
For farmers, NaFFSL is a home. For government and development partners, we are the bridge to the farming communities whose work feeds the nation. Through our network of cooperatives and associations spanning the country, we work to strengthen smallholder farmers’ capacity and promote sustainable practices that raise productivity while protecting the land farmers depend on.

A Sierra Leone with a thriving and sustainable agricultural sector that nourishes its people, empowers farmers, and fosters economic prosperity, a nation where agriculture is the backbone of the economy, food security is assured, and rural communities flourish.
OUR MISSION
To unite, represent, and advocate for farmers across Sierra Leone ,promoting sustainable agricultural practices and empowering rural communities, while strengthening cooperatives and influencing the farmer-friendly policies the sector needs to grow.
What We Do
Our work is organized around six strategic goals:
- Enhancing agricultural productivity : training farmers in modern techniques and improving access to quality seeds, fertilizers, and equipment.
- Strengthening farmer cooperatives and associations: helping farmer groups form, grow, and gain real collective bargaining power.
- Improving access to finance and credit : working with financial institutions to design products that actually fit farmers' needs, and building financial literacy.
- Driving value addition and market linkages: supporting agro-processing and connecting farmers directly to buyers, retailers, and exporters.
- Advocating for farmer-friendly policy: engaging policymakers and government agencies to push for regulations that support, not burden, the agricultural sector.
- Promoting sustainable land and water management : encouraging climate-smart farming and responsible use of natural resources.
